History & Background
When the current Montrose High School was built in the 1960s, the local population was much smaller than it is today. The original stadium was built to seat about 800 people only a few times per year. For that era, the stadium’s facilities were deemed reasonable and adequate.

However, as Montrose and its surrounding areas have grown, so have the needs for improvements to the Montrose Community Stadium. New sanitary and accessibility requirements must now be met. Increased event attendance demands more seating and better access. People deserve the most modern, clean, and attractive facilities we can provide.

Grassroots Improvement, Montrose Style
Montrose is a progressive, independent-minded community. While other communities might turn to government for a handout or might pressure their school district to reallocate priorities for facilities improvement, this is not so in Montrose

Instead, a group of civic-minded community leaders have turned to local businesses and private citizens to plan, fund, and execute a five-year plan that will benefit the entire community for years to come. Hundreds of volunteers have rolled up their sleeves to move dirt and rocks, assemble bleachers, pour concrete, install electrical and plumbing systems, and paint walls.

Much has already been accomplished, yet much more lies ahead. You are invited to roll up your sleeves and join the Montrose Community Stadium team!
